This Academy is our contribution.
Ancient wisdom, explored through practice, experience and real life.
For both of us, this journey began long before Five Elements Wisdom Academy. We came to these traditions through different paths, but both were drawn to teachings that offered more than knowledge — ways of understanding ourselves, our bodies, our relationships and the world around us.
Over time, these teachings became part of how we live. They changed the way we see things, the way we meet challenges, and the way we understand what it means to live with greater awareness and connection.
Five Elements Wisdom Academy grew from a desire to share what we had found — and to contribute something we believe is meaningful and needed.
Not as a formula for how to live, and not as answers to every question, but as an invitation to explore ancient wisdom through practice, experience and real life.
Because for us, wisdom only becomes meaningful when it is lived.
Two paths, one shared inquiry

We came to this work through different paths.
Marcela’s background is rooted in Yoga, movement, breath and embodied practice. Years of teaching internationally have deepened her interest in how these practices can help us listen more closely to the body and to our own inner experience.
Tobias came to the work through Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and the ancient wisdom of the Daoist traditions. Decades of clinical practice and study have given him a deep understanding of the Five Elements and their relationship to health, nature and the rhythms of life.
Over the years, these paths have increasingly met and informed one another.
What began as different areas of study became a shared way of looking at life — bringing together ancient knowledge, embodied practice and the realities of modern life.
This is at the heart of Five Elements Wisdom Academy.
Is this still how we want to live?
What we have learned over the years has also shaped the way we make decisions and the life we are creating.
For both of us, this journey began long before we had children, and long before we created the Academy. We had already started questioning some of the ideas we’d inherited about what a successful life was supposed to look like, what we should strive for, and how we were supposed to spend our time.
We still question those things.
For us, living in alignment isn’t a destination or a decision we make once. It is a daily practice — listening for that sometimes very quiet inner knowing, noticing when we’re moving from fear or habit, and when we’re moving from something that feels more true. And having the courage to choose differently when we need to.
Since becoming parents, those questions have taken on a whole new dimension. We want our two boys to grow up knowing that there isn’t only one way to build a life.
So we make choices that create more space for family, nature, community and connection. We work, teach and travel together when we can. Our children have grown up alongside this work — seeing us practice, teach, build something we believe in, and make a living around what matters to us.
We don’t always get it right. But we keep asking the question: is this still how we want to live?
We don’t believe there is one right way to answer it. And we don’t want to offer our own life as a blueprint for anyone else.
What we hope to share are practices, knowledge and perspectives that can help you listen more deeply, understand yourself more clearly, and make choices that are genuinely your own.
Because ultimately, this work isn’t about creating a perfect life.
It’s about becoming more present for the life you are actually living.
